WhatsApp may soon introduce an Incognito Mode for conversations with the Meta AI chatbot, providing more privacy when engaging with it. WABetaInfo recently identified this feature in WhatsApp beta version 2.25.28.1 on Android OS and discovered its development.

How WhatsApp’s Incognito Mode Will Work

The upcoming mode is designed to function much like Incognito Mode in Google Chrome or Private Browsing in Safari. Here’s what users can expect:

No chat historyOnce enabled, conversations with Meta AI will not be stored.

No data usage: Queries will not be used to train Meta AI or personalise the user experience.

Auto-delete on Exit: When a user closes the chat window, all queries are automatically deleted.

Privacy Prompt: An alert message informs users that by switching into this mode there will be "no personalisation, history or memory for future conversations".

This feature aims to assist users in discussing sensitive subjects without fear of their data being saved or misused.

Why It Matters

Current conversations with Meta AI can be recorded for future reference or training, however by activating Incognito Mode WhatsApp would provide users with greater control of their data while strengthening its commitment to privacy while exploring new AI tools.

How to Enable (Expected)

According to the leaked screenshots, the option to toggle Incognito Mode will appear in the options window, where users can currently initiate a new AI conversation or view previous chats.

Other Meta AI Features in Testing

This isn’t the only upgrade Meta AI is receiving on WhatsApp. Recently, reports revealed that WhatsApp is also testing a voice chat mode for Meta AI:

- Available to select beta testers in version 2.25.21.21

- Allows two-way voice chats with Meta AI by tapping the Meta icon in the chat window

- Offers greater flexibility and personalisation in conversations

Rollout Timeline

At present, Incognito Mode remains under development and unavailable even to beta testers, though it should become widely accessible via future WhatsApp updates.

Final Thoughts

WhatsApp has taken an essential step to ease users' concerns over AI-driven data collection through their introduction of Incognito Mode, offering millions of people who engage in experiments using Meta AI within its app with privacy and trust.
