Microsoft is going all in on Copilot integration in Windows 11. In the latest Insider Preview build, a new “Share with Copilot” button was added to quickly share your screen using Copilot Vision right from the Taskbar. This is a function which lets users share the contents of any open app with AI and immediately get insights, summaries or explanations. Still in testing, the addition underscores Microsoft’s effort to make Copilot more integral to the Windows experience.
What Is the “Share with Copilot” Button?
The capability is included with today's Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26220.6690 (Dev Channel).
- It shows just when you hover over any app on the Taskbar.
- Screen sharing occurs with a click of the app and shared directly into Copilot Vision.
- Copilot then examines what’s on screen and resurfaces relevant context aggregations or summaries.

How It Works
- Reviewing data in Excel? Copilot is good at summarizing that or identifying the trends.
- Listening to a song? Copilot can recognize the song and bring up more details.
- Looking at an image? Copilot may indicate or describe the content.
Users could also follow up with the Microsoft Copilot chatbot for further explanations or simpler step-by-step information.
Other New Features in This Preview Build
Alongside the “Share with Copilot” button, the build also introduces:
- On-screen translate text feature – helps users translate foreign text on webpages or apps into their preferred language.
- General improvements and bug fixes as part of the Insider testing cycle.
Is Microsoft Overloading Copilot Into Windows?
Copilot is now almost everywhere in Windows:
- In the Notes app
- Integrated into the Taskbar
- Embedded within the Edge browser
- Even featured on some physical keyboards
And while the integration is meant to speed up workflows, there are some users who think Microsoft might be overloading the OS with Copilot and wonder how much AI help you need on a daily basis.

Final Thoughts
The “Share with Copilot” button is one of the most straightforward, useful AI features to make its way into Windows 11 so far—it’s instant access to Copilot Vision with no additional menus required. But because it is still part of the Insider Preview and software in development, Microsoft could change or even ditch it based on user feedback. For now, it is a signal of the company’s resolve to make Copilot the shining jewel in the Windows ecosystem — whether or not some feel like everywhere else already.
