YouTube, a popular video-sharing platform, which has been introducing a lot of new features for the enhancement of user experience, is now escalating its ad-blocker crackdown and is now asking users to disable the ad-blocker extensions if they want to continue streaming on its platform.
X users who are using ad-blocking extensions have said that they are now seeing a pop-up warning that using the ad-blockers is a violation of the terms and conditions of the Google-owned company. If the users tap on the cross button placed at the top right side of the screen, it will automatically disable the ad-blocking extension on the platform and is reportedly the only way to continue watching videos. If the users want to stream videos without the ads, they are asked to take a Premium subscription.
Previously, the Google-owned platform said that it is conducting a modest test in which users are asked to disable ad-blockers to allow commercials on the platform or upgrade to YouTube Premium. The business also stated that consumers will be prompted numerous times to allow adverts and discontinue video playback.
While Google seems to be looking for ways to increase its revenue, the public seems to have mixed reactions to the move. Additionally, the reports also suggest that the platform is also showing pop-ups to the Microsoft Edge users who have enabled the ‘Tracking prevention’ option set to ‘Strict’. If you are one of them, you will have to select the Balanced option.
