Video streaming company YouTube continues to implement new changes on its platform to enhance the user experience. After introducing a stricter policy for ad blockers, the company is testing a video button that appears at the bottom of the UI, according to a report from Android Police.
As per the news outlet, select users started noticing the change in the UI a few days ago. While not live for a larger audience, the button suggests Shorts from the YouTube library. Plus, a banner "Can't decide what to watch?" displays a "Play something" button visible in the clip shared in the report. It starts playing full-length videos in portrait mode with likes, comments, and more controls tucked at the extreme right.
Both perform similar functions to suggest content when a user taps them. However, the black button is more convenient to trigger with a single hand due to the laid-down position. This button may be helpful for people when a user is struggling to get the answer to the question of what to watch on the platform.

YouTube developers are reportedly testing the feature to present both of these enhancements at once to a viewer. The video platform has not shared an official word on the update to confirm a release soon. However, the content may be inspired by your watch history, channel subscription, likes and more. The test is likely live for a skewed audience. It was not available in many versions of YouTube on iOS and Android smartphones when we checked.
It is not a part of the experiment that offers access to testing features. On a related note, the company is testing a stricter protocol for third-party ad blockers on the platform. As a result, this led to a decline in downloads and an increase in the uninstall rates of ad blockers. Plus, users are heading to more powerful blockers than continue to work despite the curbs.
