Hyderabad Crime: A man was stabbed and brutally killed by a group of persons in Hyderabad's Jawaharnagar on Monday morning. The officials stated that Venkat Ratnam, the deceased, was riding a two-wheeler after dropping her daughter at the school and was chased by the group in an autorickshaw. While the initial reports suggested that Ratnam was killed due to recent real estate disputes, the victim was also reportedly involved in a controversial police encounter back in 1999. The six accused have reportedly surrendered to the Shahnazgunj Police Station just a few hours after the incident. The officials stated that a detailed probe has been launched into the matter to disclose the exact reasons behind the incident.

How Did The Incident Unfold?

While providing details, the officials stated that Ratnam was riding a two-wheeler and was confronted by the group of accused from the opposite direction. The victim was stabbed multiple times in the back, neck, and stomach and was also dragged on the road by the group, reported NDTV. The accused shot Ratnam at least two times before fleeing the scene in an autorickshaw. The Shahnazgunj Police Station has informed the Jawaharnagar police that all six accused surrendered a few hours after the incident.

Two Decades-Old Revenge?

Chandan Singh, the prime accused, is the son of Sudesh Singh, who was killed in a controversial police encounter in 1999, reported NDTV. Singh believed that Ratnam acted as an informer in the case and was one of the main reasons behind his father's encounter. The accused has been planning to take revenge for the past several years and was following Ratnam for the past few months, reported NDTV, citing sources.

The officials stated that while the accused have already surrendered, a probe has been launched to disclose the reasons behind Ratnam's brutal murder.
