A 17-year-old girl, who was reported missing earlier this week, was found dead in Hyderabad, police said on Tuesday. Police arrested three people, including a 22-year-old man who claimed to have married her. Police said the accused, identified as Chintu alias Vignesh, befriended the girl online about five months ago and "married" her on November 8.
According to police, Vignesh killed the minor later that day by smashing her head against a wall and strangling her with a sari. He then, with the help of his friend and his wife, transported the girl's body on a two-wheeler, dumping it at a garbage site in Tukkuguda and covering it with waste paper, reported news agency PTI.
Police said that Vignesh was in a relationship with the girl for about a month. Tensions escalated when the girl, after being ''sexually assaulted'' by him, began threatening to tell others about their relationship, leading Vignesh to hatch a plan to kill her. After their so-called marriage, Vignesh instructed the girl to call her mother and inform her of the wedding.

Later after dumping her body along with his friend, the accused called the victim’s mother and inquired about her asking whether she was with them, police said. Following the girl's disappearance, her mother filed a missing person complaint at Miyapur police station on November 10.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case of kidnapping and arrested Vignesh and his two friends after Vignesh confessed to the crime. A case of murder and tampering with evidence has been filed and all three suspects were charged under the relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the POCSO Act.
