Hyderabad Metro Fare Update: Commuters in Hyderabad will soon have to spend more on metro travel, as the Hyderabad Metro Rail has announced a revised fare structure. The new rates will come into effect from May 17 marking the first fare revision since the metro began operations.

The fare changes are based on the recommendations of a Fare Fixation Committee (FFC), which was set up under Section 34 of the Metro Railways (Operation & Maintenance) Act, 2002. The committee, chaired by a retired High Court judge, submitted its report on January 25, 2023. As per the law, the committee's suggestions are binding on metro authorities.

They added that the fare revision was necessary due to rising operational and maintenance costs.
