Hyderabad News: A 15-year-old student died by suicide in Hyderabad’s Habsiguda area on Tuesday morning. The girl, identified as Siri Vaishnavi, was studying in Class 10 and allegedly took the extreme step after being reprimanded by her parents for scoring low marks in a recent examination.
According to police, the incident took place around 5 AM, when Vaishnavi reportedly jumped from the terrace of her residential building. Officers from the Osmania University Police Station reached the location soon after receiving information and carried out an initial inquiry. The body was later shifted to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem examination.
The Siasat report cited Inspector PA Naidu as stating that the girl had been upset after being scolded for her maths score. Based on a complaint filed by her father, police have registered a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and further investigation is underway.
In similar Incident, a Class 9 student died by suicide inside a private school in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district after allegedly accusing the school principal of sexual harassment. The 15-year-old girl was found hanging in the study room on Sunday evening, officials said.

According to police, the student used a saree to hang herself from a ceiling rod. She was staying in the school’s hostel and belonged to Sitapur in neighbouring Surguja district. Jashpur Senior Superintendent of Police Shashimohan Singh confirmed that a suicide note recovered from the spot named the principal, Kuldipan Topno and levelled allegations of molestation and harassment. The principal was arrested soon after.
A case has been registered and a detailed investigation is underway. A joint team from the education, tribal and police departments visited the school for inspection. Officials revealed that the hostel operating on the premises was not authorised. Out of 124 enrolled students, 33 were staying in the hostel without proper approvals, and key documents have been seized.
A magisterial inquiry has also been ordered to determine further details behind the incident.
