Hyderabad News: A Zomato delivery partner was allegedly assaulted by staff members of a Pizza Hut outlet in Hyderabad following a disagreement linked to a customer rating. The incident occurred on Sunday and was captured on the restaurant’s CCTV cameras.

Police have registered a case and launched an investigation after the delivery partner filed a formal complaint.

According to the complaint, the delivery partner had gone to the Pizza Hut outlet to pick up an order when staff members confronted him. According to a NDTV report, the employees alleged that a recent low customer rating had affected the outlet’s online reputation and blamed the delivery worker for it.

The complainant stated that he was first taunted by multiple staff members, following which an argument broke out. He said the situation quickly escalated despite his attempts to explain that customer ratings are submitted by users and not delivery personnel.

Argument Turns Violent

Witnesses told police that the argument turned physical. The staff members allegedly assaulted the delivery partner and dragged him to the ground. The incident was recorded on CCTV footage, which police are now reviewing as part of the probe.

In his statement, the delivery worker said that even after clarifying the rating system, the staff continued to threaten and attack him.

Police Action

Based on the complaint, police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused employees on charges related to assault and criminal intimidation. Officials said those identified in the CCTV footage are being questioned.

Further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and individual roles in the incident.
