Hyderabad Police has issued a traffic advisory in view of Ganesh Shobha Yatra, which will take place on Thursday and Friday. The city traffic police have sketched out main procession routes and imposed traffic restrictions around the city.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Hyderabad City Commissioner CV Anand asked residents to stay at home and watch the immersion rituals on television.
"Today is the Ganesh Shobha Yatra and immersions of idols will take place on a big scale. The route is as shown below in the map and no traffic will be permitted to go across. The government has declared a holiday," CV Anand wrote on X.
He added, "It’ll be my request to everyone to stay indoors and you can always watch the proceedings of the immersion live on all Telugu channels. The roads will be crowded and overflowing with humanity. All processionists are also requested to do the immersion in a peaceful manner."
Khairatabad Ganesh's Shobhayatra has commenced with grandeur and gaiety. In order to complete the immersion procession by 12 PM, police officials urged the Utsav committee to start the Shobha yatra early in the morning. According to the timetable, the procession has begun.
Around 5 AM in the morning, the 63-foot-tall Ganesh idol was loaded onto the trolley. For the Shobhayatra, advanced cranes are being deployed. The trolley has 26 tyres and can handle up to 55 tonnes of weight. On Wednesday night, the Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav committee halted Ganesh darshan and began welding work on the trolley.
