A missionary school in Telangana's Mancherial district was vandalised by a mob after its principal questioned some of the students for wearing saffron attire inside the campus. As per the report, the school staff was also manhandled by the mob. After receiving a complaint from the parents of the students, the police have filed a case against two staff members, including the principal, under sections pertaining to religious sentiment offence and fostering hostility between religious groups, NDTV reported.
As per authorities, the principal of Blessed Mother Teresa High School in Kannepalli village noticed some students donning saffron attire in the school. Upon enquiring, the students said they were observing Hanuman Deeksha, a 21-day ritual. The principal asked them to bring their parents to the school.

The situation intensified following the circulation of a video on social media, alleging that the principal had prohibited Hindu attire on campus. Subsequently, a crowd entered the school premises in agitation. Footage depicts individuals clad in saffron attire chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ while breaking windows. The teachers could be seen imploring them to stop their actions with folded hands. Police officers could be seen attempting to restore order and escorting the protesters out of the school corridors. In one video, the crowd is seen hurling stones at a statue of Mother Teresa located on the campus.
The school management has also lodged a complaint with local police, but no arrests have been made yet.

The incident came in the backdrop of high-stakes Lok Sabah polls in the country. The voting for the first of seven phases will begin on April 19.
