Telangana News: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to recognise the Bengaluru–Hyderabad belt as a defence and aerospace corridor, stating that such a decision would support the Centre’s Viksit Bharat vision. He made the appeal on Wednesday during the launch of French company Safran’s LEAP engine maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility in Hyderabad. The programme also included the groundbreaking ceremony for the firm’s M88 military engine maintenance unit, in which the Prime Minister participated virtually.
Reddy said Hyderabad has grown into a major hub for MRO services and aero engine manufacturing, attracting several global leaders in the sector. He noted that Telangana is home to more than 25 multinational aerospace and defence companies along with over 1,500 MSMEs working in precision engineering.

Highlighting the State’s industrial support systems, he said Telangana’s dedicated aerospace parks, SEZs and strong infrastructure have drawn major investments from companies like Safran, Boeing, Airbus, Tata and Bharat Forge. According to him, the State’s industrial and MSME policies are among the country’s most progressive.
The Chief Minister also pointed to the rapid rise in aerospace and defence exports from Telangana. He said exports doubled last year, touching Rs 30,742 crore in nine months and surpassing pharmaceutical exports for the first time.

Emphasising the need for skilled manpower in the aviation sector, Reddy said Telangana has modernised 100 industrial training institutes into Advanced Technology Centres with the support of Tata Technologies. He added that Young India Skills University is also planning specialised courses in aircraft maintenance. Inviting Safran to join these skilling initiatives, he said the company’s new LEAP engine MRO centre will employ more than 1,000 skilled technicians and engineers.
Reddy also invited the Prime Minister and Safran’s leadership to the Telangana Rising 2047 Global Summit, scheduled for December 8 and 9 at the proposed Bharat Future City. He said the upcoming 30,000-acre project would be a Net Zero smart city designed to match global standards.
