Telangana Weather: Telangana is set to get relief from the long cold spell that has continued for nearly two weeks. The ongoing cold wave, which has brought unusually low temperatures to several districts including Hyderabad, is expected to end by Wednesday evening. Weather officials said that milder conditions will follow from Thursday as winds shift over the region.

The change in weather is linked to moist easterly winds arriving from the Bay of Bengal. These winds are likely to replace the dry northerlies that have been responsible for the steep drop in temperatures. Over the last 11 days, many parts of Telangana, especially rural areas reported sharp dips in the minimum temperature, with some areas recording their coldest mornings of the season.

Weather enthusiast T Balaji, popularly known as Telangana Weatherman, said the cold wave is now set to conclude. In a post on X, he wrote, “The 11 day long COLDWAVE is finally coming to an end with tonight will be the last day strong cold weather. From tomorrow night, the cold weather will become mild due to moist easterlies from BoB.”

He added that south Telangana may receive brief showers on November 23 and 24. “Passing showers ahead in South TG during Nov 23-24, but these are only isolated ones, mostly can be ignored,” he said. Officials also stated that these rains will be minimal and will not have any major impact, with most areas likely to remain dry.

Telangana Coldwave

The cold wave began after Cyclone Montha moved away on November 7, allowing cooler winds to settle over Telangana. Districts such as Adilabad even recorded single-digit temperatures during the peak of the cold spell.

A more active weather system is expected in the last week of November. According to forecasts, a depression over the Bay of Bengal may bring moderate rainfall to Telangana after November 27 and 28. This system is likely to produce more widespread rain compared to the isolated showers expected over the weekend.

Cyclone Senyar Update

Balaji noted that these moderate rains will be linked to the deep depression forming in the Bay. Cyclone Senyar is also expected to move towards the Andhra Pradesh coast around the same period.

The weather shift marks a typical transition during the northeast monsoon season, with the Bay of Bengal remaining highly active in November.
