For a total of 13 days this month, both public and private banks will be closed. According to RBI guidelines, banks are not allowed to operate on any Sundays or on the second or fourth Saturday. Several festivals and cultural celebrations will also cause bank and public holiday closures in various states, in addition to these regular days off.
Important celebrations include the tribal festival Beh Deinkhlam in Meghalaya on July 14 and Kharchi Puja in Tripura on July 3, as well as the birthday of Guru Hargobind Ji in Jammu & Kashmir on July 5. On July 16, Uttarakhand will celebrate Harela; on July 17, Meghalayan Singalese will commemorate the anniversary of U Tirot Singh's passing; and on July 19, Tripura will once more have a holiday for Ker Puja. The state-specific list was finally completed on July 28 by Drukpa Tshe-zi in Sikkim.
Furthermore, Muharram, which falls on Sunday, July 6 in 2025, is observed nationwide as a national public holiday.
