Diwali 2025 Full Calendar:  Diwali is one of the biggest festivals of India. It is also known as the festival of lights, when almost the whole nation lights up with diyas and fairy lights. Diwali 2025 will be celebrated between October 18 and October 23. The major celebrations of Diwali last for five auspicious days, known as Dhanteras, Choti Diwali, Lakshmi Puja, Govardhan Puja, and Bhai Dooj. The main Diwali, when Lakshmi Puja happens, is on Monday, October 20, 2025, and the peak puja hours are from 7:08 PM to 8:18 PM. This year, the festival coincides with the lunar tithi of Amavasya, starting at 3:44 PM on October 20 and ending at 5:54 PM on October 21, which might result in the regional differences in dates of observance of Deepawali 2025.

The five-day-long Diwali festival starts with Dhanteras on October 18. On the holy event, devotees worship Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Kuber for prosperity and good fortune. The day is believed to be auspicious to buy gold or silver.

Kali Chaudas or Hanuman Puja will be observed on October 19. On the sacred day, people light diyas to keep bad spirits and negativity away.


Choti Diwali, also known as Naraka Chaturdashi, will be celebrated on the 20th of October. The day marks the victory of Lord Krishna over the demon Narakasura.

The main Diwali night will be on October 20th, marked with Lakshmi Puja, which is observed during the Pradosh Kaal, between 5:46 PM and 8:18 PM. Additionally, the best Lakshami Puja muhurat is between 7:08 PM and 8:18 PM.

On the auspicious occasion of Diwali 2025, people come together to worship Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha, lighting diyas, bursting firecrackers, and distributing sweets, which is a celebration of good over evil.

Next,  Govardhan Puja is celebrated on October 22, which is to honour the lifting of the Govardhan Parvat (Hill) by Lord Krishna to protect villagers against heavy rains.

The five-day-long festivities of Diwali 2025 will end on October 23 with Bhai Dooj. The day celebrates the beautiful relationship between brothers and sisters. The sisters pray for the long life of their brothers.

Regional Variations And Rituals

It is also important to know that the fundamental dates and times for the Diwali celebrations are the same; however, sometimes local panchangs (religious times and muhurats) may differ slightly, due to tithis and sunset timings. However, each day of Diwali comes with special rituals, ranging from home cleaning and rangoli drawing to conducting special Puja and much more. The festival not only honours prosperity and positivity but also carries the cultural values of thankfulness, purity, and worship.
