The Indian Premier League, which is one of the premier T20 competition, has captivated the Indian audience since its first edition in 2008. One of the top individual honors in the tournament is the IPL Orange Cap, which is given to a batter who becomes the highest run-scorer in every season. On the other hand, the purple cap is given to a bowler, who takes the most wicket in a season. In IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru's star batter Virat Kohli is currently leading the Orange Cap race whereas Punjab Kings bowler Harshal Patel is currently the Purple cap holder.
IPL Orange Cap: Winners List
Gujarat Titans star opener Shubman Gill won the Orange cap last year as he had scored 890 runs after playing in 17 matches, which also included three hundreds. Gill's record is the second highest by any batter in one season of the tournament and is just behind Virat Kohli, who scored 973 runs in the 2016 season.
Australia's explosive opener David Warner has won the Orange cap the most number of times, that is, three. He was the highest run-getter in three seasons -- 2015, 2017 and 2019 -- when he used to play for SRH.
