Gen Z Slang, Words, Lingo Meaning: If a few years back, someone would have used words like Fam, Glow up, Stan, and more, as part of their regular conversations- the person would have been alienated. After all, how can a person with a different vocabulary be expected to fit well with people who hardly have any idea about the words that are coming out of the other person's mouth? However, the case might be a bit different in today’s day and age. In fact, the case might simply be the exact opposite- not aware of the ongoing lingo and slang words? Well, that may lead you to feel alienated. After all, how can one expect to be part of a group while acting lost after listening to some of the most ‘basic’ terms, correct?
All in all, when it comes to language, conversation, slang words, and more, the world has seen a drastic change. The change especially came in the last few years, after Generation Z- who are more popular as Gen Z- gained enough consciousness and ‘brains’ to come up with their own set of words to use with their fellow Gen Zs. For those unaware, anyone born between the years 1995 to 2012 is considered a Gen Z. Some also follow the years 1997 to 2012. The point is that people born in the late 90s to people born until the early 2010s are all Gen Zs. And it's safe to say that if you are not a Gen Z, understanding some of the words that they use can be a task. In fact, sometimes, even Gen Zs get confused about their own slang words.
So, keeping that in mind, we thought of clearing out the meaning and abbreviations of some of the slang words and lingo that are doing rounds around the internet these days. Take a look at the list of 50 Gen Z lingo and slang words. The list was compiled by ‘parade’.
