There are few states with the highest gold mine reserves in India, that help the nation to produce gold. Well,  it's important to understand that gold-producing states and gold reserve states are different. Gold-producing states are those where gold is actively mined and extracted, whereas gold reserve states are those that have large deposits of gold beneath the surface, whether mined or not due to geographical regions and more.

India has several states that have significant gold reserves and are therefore important for the mineral wealth of the country. While few states, such as Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are known for their gold production, there are some of the largest gold reserves in states like Bihar and Rajasthan, with little or no active mining. These reserves are regularly accessed and evaluated by the Geological Survey of India (GSI) and some other government agencies, thus keeping a clear portrait of the gold resources available in the country.

Which Is The Largest Gold Producing States In India?

The largest gold-producing state in India is Karnataka with two biggest gold mines: the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) and the Hutti Gold Mines, which are among the oldest and most productive gold mines in the country. Hutti Gold Mines is the mining area In Raichur district and is now the only operational primary gold mine in India. Karnataka accounts for the most significant share of gold production in India, contributing over 80% of the country's total gold mining. 

Other than Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Jharkhand also have gold production, but it is much less compared to Karnataka. Anantapur district within Andhra Pradesh and Sonbhadra district within Uttar Pradesh have also displayed their potential. However, Karnataka continues to top in gold production, as it has a well-established mining infrastructure with significant deposits of gold.
