Oldest Religion In The World: Religion has been an integral part of human existence for thousands of years. It gives human beings a sense of understanding about the world, it gives life meaning, and teaches values to live a contented life. Some religions have been around for a very long time and have built cultures and traditions which continue till today. Religions are one of the most significant pillars of society that humans have created for themselves. Hinduism (15th – 5th century BCE)
Hinduism is commonly referred to as the world's oldest religion. Hinduism's origin lie in the early Vedic traditions of the Indian subcontinent. Its core books—the Vedas—were written between 1500 and 500 BCE, although oral traditions may go further back. Hinduism is built on a multifaceted cultural system, with several philosophies, rituals, and gods. Hinduism is popularly known for its terms like karma, dharma, and moksha. The oldest religion is mainly followed in India and Nepal.

Zoroastrianism (10th – 5th century BCE)
Zoroastrianism originated in ancient Persia and was established by the prophet Zoroaster (Zarathustra). According to dualism, Ahura Mazda is referred to as good god, who is opposed by the evil Angra Mainyu. It was the official religion of the Persian empires and had a significant impact on Abrahamic faiths. However the worshippers of this religion are rarely seen today, and its legacy has been taken forwarded by Parsis in India and Iranian Zoroastrians.

Judaism (9th – 5th century BCE)
Judaism is the oldest of the Abrahamic religion. It was originated in the ancient Near East with nearly 4,000 years of tradition. This religion is based on belief system of one God and its linkage with the Jews, as stated in the Torah (bible). Judaism's teachings and scripture are the basis for Christianity and Islam, and its festivals and rituals are still alive today.

Jainism (8th – 2nd century BCE)
Jainism was developed in India, its lifeline is linked to the Shramana movement. It focuses on non-violence (ahimsa), truth, and self-discipline. The religious heritage of Jainism is followed through 24 Tirthankaras, the last and most powerful of which is Mahavira. The religion is widely known for its strong moral values and vegetarian diet that have greatly influenced Indian society.

Confucianism (6th – 5th century BCE)
Confucianism was established by Confucius in China. It is a system of social and moral philosophy, more than an organised religion. It focuses on individual morality, obedience to parents, and the harmony of society. Confucian philosophy has profoundly shaped Chinese culture, government, and education for more than two thousand years.

Buddhism (6th – 5th century BCE)
Buddhism's roots are linked to Siddhartha Gautama (the Buddha) in the Indian subcontinent. It is all about the existence of suffering using the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path. Buddhism was quickly spread throughout Asia, which was followed by numerous local cultures and has developed numerous schools of thought.

Taoism (6th – 4th century BCE)
Taoism (Daoism) emerged in China, with its foundational scriptures like the Tao Te Ching being attributed to Laozi. It's all about living by the Tao (the Way), simplicity, and spontaneity. Taoism has informed Chinese spirituality, medicine, and art, and is still influential across East Asia.
