US President-elect Donald Trump on Sunday responded to the questions regarding the future of Elon Musk in the politics of the United States and his chances of being a president of the US. Responding to a question about whether the richest man in the world can become future president or not, Trump clarified that it was not possible due to the rules of the constitution of America.

Trump emphasised on the US rule that states a person is eligible to become president only if he is born in the country. Recently Trump had to face criticism for allegedly giving excessive power to Musk, in spite of him not being a public representative. Democrats have been criticising Trump for portraying Musk as “President Musk" for his role in the upcoming administration.

Trump made these remarks at a Republican conference in Phoenix, Arizona, where he was talking about the election and politics of the country. Trump clarified his stance on the future of Musk and stated that the Tesla owner will not become president. “He’s not going to be president, that I can tell you," Trump said at the conference. “You know why he can’t be? He wasn’t born in this country," Trump pointed out. “No, no, that’s not happening," Trump assured the crowd.

The US Constitution mandates that the president of the country has to be a natural-born US citizen; however, Musk was born in South Africa and came to the US in the late 90s for studies and then later entered into the business arena.

Elon Musk has become a focal point in the politics of the United States for the past few months, first for actively supporting Trump in his presidential run and then getting major portfolios post Trump's victory in the recently concluded presidential polls.

While Democrats are raising questions about him not being a public representative, the Republicans too criticised him after Musk trashed a government funding proposal in a blizzard of posts.
