Anaconda Reboot: The snake returns to the jungle. Sony Pictures Entertainment has unveiled the trailer for Anaconda, a reboot of the cult 1997 creature-thriller starring Jack Black and Paul Rudd in the lead roles. The upcoming movie centres on a group of friends who were obsessed with the 90s film, who set out to create their own version, only to find a real snake in the process. As Black declares in the trailer, "This is Anaconda, and we no longer have a snake for our snake movie. We have to go out in the jungle and find another one.”

The trailer reveals how the two best friends begin working on their dream film, but reality quickly hits them when they start shooting in a wild jungle.

The film follows the lives of Doug (Black) and Griff (Rudd), who have been lifelong friends who have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favourite movie, Anaconda, in their own style. They head deep into the Amazon to start filming but things spiral out of control when a real giant anaconda appears. What started as a passion project quickly turned into a chaotic and deadly situation, as per Deadline.

Anaconda Reboot Cast And Crew Members

The reimagining of the 1997 snake-centred horror movie is helmed by The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent fame Tom Gormican, who has co-written the screenplay with Kevin Etten. It is backed by Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Kevin Etten, and Tom Gormican. Besides Jack Black and Paul Rudd, the film also stars Selton Mello, Daniela Melchior, Thandiwe Newton, Steve Zahn, and Ione Skye.

The original 1997 Anaconda was directed by Luis Llosa and starred Jennifer Lopez, Jon Voight, Owen Wilson, and Ice Cube. The movie was a box office hit, grossing USD 136.9M worldwide. Spawning a number of sequels, the original movie focused on a National Geographic film crew hunting for the world’s biggest and deadliest snake, an Anaconda.

Anaconda Reboot Release Date

Tom Gormican’s horror movie will hit theatres on December 25, making it a wild treat for the fans of snake thrillers.
