Spider-Man Brand New Day: After the massive success of James Gunn's Superman and with the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Fantastic Four: First Steps just around the corner, another exciting development has emerged, taking superhero fans' anticipation to the next level. The inclusion of Frank Castle aka The Punisher in Tom Holland's upcoming movie has been confirmed by MCU president Kevin Feige. The iconic character, played by Jon Bernthal. The Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to release in July 2026.

During roundtable discussions for Fantastic Four: First Steps, Kevin Feige dropped major updates about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Brand New Day and revealed what fans can expect from the upcoming movie. He said, "I think there’s a promise at the end of No Way Home, that for as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories him being a proper Spider-Man. Him being by himself, dedicated to saving the city, and dealing with – for lack of better terms – street-level crime, as opposed to world-ending events."

Feige also opened up about how the new direction will show fresh characters and unexpected team-ups in the Spider-Man universe. He stated, “So when you do that, you say, okay, who are the other street-level characters that we’ve never seen him interact with? And of course, I love that the Punisher started in a Spider-Man comic. That great cover … I don’t want to say too much, but Destin — I will say too much — Destin is doing an amazing job right now on that movie, which starts shooting very soon. And he’s got eight or nine comic covers up on his wall in his art department that he is bringing to life in this movie, which is super cool.”

It will be a movie focused on how Spider-Man operates on the ground level. It won’t involve any multiversal threats; this will be Peter Parker's fight alone.

Interestingly, the film’s title, Brand New Day, references the 2008 comic storyline, which was controversial for ending Peter Parker’s marriage to Mary Jane after a reality-altering event. Spider-Man: No Way Home, the third part in the franchise, ended with Peter Parker making a difficult decision to erase his identity from the world with the help of Mephisto. This latest instalment is expected to draw inspiration from the comic and take Peter into a completely different reality.
