As the 2024 season comes to an end, former US President Barack Obama on Saturday shared a few of his favourites of the year, including his top films, songs and books. Obama, who in the past has also shared his favourites of the year, this year ranked India-origin Payal Kapadia’s ‘All We Imagine As Light’ at the top of his list of best movies in 2024. Apart from films, Obama also ranked his best songs and books.
Obama’s Top Films Of 2024:
Talking about Obama’s favourite movies of the year, he ranked various films along with All We Imagine as Light, which included Conclave, The Piano Lesson, The Promised Land, The Seed of the Sacred Flag, Dune: Part Two, Anora, Didi, Sugarcane and A Complete Unknown. The recommendation includes genres from drama to inspirational, that would help the viewer to be entertained and inspired at the same time.

About The Film ‘All We Imagine as Light’:
The drama film has marked the presence of Indian cinema on the international platform by not only being among Obama’s favourites but also being the only film since 1994 to be premiered at the 77th Cannes Film Festival on May 23, 2024. The film shot in Malayalam, Hindi and Marathi languages has achieved various awards including the historical win of Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival and the Spirit of Cinema Award at the 29th Film Festival of Kerala. It has also been nominated for two Golden Globes and the Critics’ Choice Awards 2025.
All We Imagine as Light is a film that talks about a story that revolves around the struggles of three women Prabha, a nurse, Anu, her younger colleague and Parvaty, a cook. Their lives take a turn when Prabha receives a gift from an unknown sender. The cast of the film includes Divya Prabha, Kani Kusruti, Hridhu Haroon and Chhaya Kadam.
Obama’s Top Books Of 2024:
Not only the movies, Barack Obama also shared a list of his favourite books and wrote, “Today I’ll start by sharing some of the books that have stuck with me long after I finished reading them.” In the post, he listed some of his favourite books including The Anxious Generation, Stolen Pride, Intermezzo, In Ascension, Patriot, Growth, Orbital, Someone Like Us, The Anthropologists and The Work of Art.
