Charlie Kirk’s alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, reportedly joked with friends on the Discord social media platform, claiming that it was his “doppelganger” who shot the conservative activist. The revelations shed light on Robinson’s background, online activity, and personal life.  From his academic achievements to his family life, and his shocking “doppelganger” confession on Discord, new details continue to emerge

1. Tyler Claimed His ‘Doppelganger’ Did It

Hours after the shooting, Robinson allegedly logged into a Discord chat and told friends that it was not him but his “doppelganger” who killed Kirk. According to the New York Times, he joked that the double wanted to “get him in trouble.” Members of the chat even discussed how his resemblance to the FBI suspect photo could help them claim the USD 100,000 reward if Robinson “played along.”

2. FBI Surveillance Images Released

The comments came shortly after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released two grainy surveillance images. The photos show a young man in a cap and sunglasses walking in a stairwell at Utah Valley University. Authorities have been seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

3. Identifying Tyler Robinson

According to the New York Post, law enforcement sources have identified the suspect as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson from Utah. Robinson has since drawn national attention, both for the alleged attack and his online behaviour immediately afterwards.

4. Political Leanings

Utah Governor Spencer Cox noted that Robinson’s family said he “had become more political in recent years.” They recalled dinner table debates in which he mentioned Kirk’s upcoming campus visit and questioned whether Kirk was spreading hate. Records indicate Robinson is a registered voter but not affiliated with any political party. He has been inactive in recent elections, while his parents are registered Republicans.

5. Education And Upbringing

Robinson grew up near St. George, Utah, where family activities included boating, ATV riding, and target shooting. A high school honour roll student, he scored in the 99th percentile on standardised tests. In 2021, he won a prestigious scholarship to Utah State University but dropped out after one semester. He later enrolled in an electrical apprenticeship program at Dixie Technical College, where he was a third-year student at the time of the shooting.

6. Family And Faith

Raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Robinson has two younger brothers. His parents, married for around 25 years, frequently documented family vacations to Disneyland, Hawaii, and Alaska, highlighting a seemingly normal upbringing in a close-knit Mormon family, according to church spokesperson Doug Andersen.

These revelations paint a complex picture of Tyler Robinson, a young man with a promising academic past, a politically aware but unaffiliated voter, and a seemingly ordinary family life, whose actions have now thrust him into the national spotlight.
