Former United States President Joe Biden, aged 82, “aggressive form" of prostate cancer, according to an official statement by his office on Sunday. Doctors have confirmed the cancer is hormone-sensitive, making it treatable but not curable, taking into consideration the stage and severity of the disease. Biden's cancer was given a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5), which is the highest and most dangerous score on the scale used to grade prostate cancer. The score reflects a cancer that looks very abnormal when examined under a microscope and grows and spreads very aggressively, physicians explained.

Though the cancer is not curable at this point after it has spread to the bones, oncological developments have ensured such conditions are manageable in the long term through hormone therapy. Former President Biden is said to be consulting with his medical team to explore all the possible options for treatment and intends to continue keeping up with his presidential responsibilities as treatment continues.

Death Of Beau Biden From Brain Cancer

Joseph Robinette "Beau" Biden III passed away in 2015 in his fight against brain cancer, leaving a permanent mark on the Biden family and the United States political scene. Former President Joe Biden's recent health dilemma reminds one of the individual tragedy that struck deeply at his family life, the passing of his son, Beau Biden, from brain cancer. Beau Biden passed away on May 30, 2015, at the tender age of 46, following a fight with brain cancer for almost two years. Beau was an Iraq War veteran and a former Attorney General of Delaware. Beau died at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland, amid family and friends.

In 2010, Beau had a stroke, which did not impact his functions or speech but raised concerns due to his relatively young age. Beau's condition further deteriorated in 2013, when he suddenly felt weak and confused while on vacation. He was hospitalised at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, where a small lesion was found in the brain, and was operated on. After the surgery, Beau went through chemotherapy and radiation and was pronounced healthy enough to resume his responsibilities as Delaware's Attorney General. He even made public a decision to run for Governor in 2016, a show of his desire to serve his people. But early in 2015, the cancer got back with a vengeance, and Beau's health turned bad very quickly, leading to his untimely death just months later.

As former President Joe Biden grapples with his fight against a serious cancer diagnosis, the tragic memories of Beau Biden's passing from brain cancer are again in the limelight.
