As pressure mounts on US President Donald Trump to release files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a new and explosive claim has emerged, suggesting that former First Lady Melania Trump may have indirect links to Epstein through the modelling world. These allegations, brought forward by Trump biographer Michael Wolff, have added a new layer of complexity to the already controversial Epstein saga.
Speaking on The Daily Beast podcast, Wolff suggested that Melania was introduced to Trump in 1998 by Italian businessman Paolo Zampolli, founder of ID Models. Zampolli has previously been associated with both Trump and Epstein. Wolff stated, “She’s introduced by a model agent, both of whom Trump and Epstein are involved with… Epstein knew her well.”
This controversial statement casts doubt on the long-held public narrative that Melania met Trump at New York’s Kit Kat Klub. In her own words from her bestselling book Melania, she recounts the encounter as a chance meeting through a mutual friend, adding that she was initially uninterested due to Trump having a date at the time.

Trump’s Attempts To Distance Himself
Donald Trump is facing renewed scrutiny over his long-standing ties to Epstein. His recent trip to Scotland coincided with calls to release unredacted Epstein documents. Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and dismissed the investigations as politically motivated, calling them a “witch hunt” and a “hoax.”
Despite his denials, media outlets have unearthed numerous connections between Trump and Epstein. The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump once sent Epstein a handwritten birthday letter. CNN has published photographs showing the two men together at multiple events, and The New York Times detailed their overlapping social circles.
Wolff’s remarks raise uncomfortable questions about the culture surrounding Trump, Epstein, and the modelling industry during the 1990s and early 2000s. “Where does [Melania] fit into this whole culture of models of indeterminate age?” he asked, hinting at the murky dynamics of power and exploitation that characterised the era.
