A New York state resident has reported an unusual sighting of what they claim was a large, disc-shaped UFO hovering silently over a field late Monday night. The sighting, which took place near Skaneateles along Route 41A, has been officially filed with the National Unidentified Flying Object Reporting Centre (NUFORC).
According to the report, the witness described seeing a “large, disc-shaped aerial object hovering low over a field adjacent to the roadway.” The mysterious craft was estimated to be about 40 feet in diameter, dark or black in colour, and had a smooth, metallic surface without visible seams, wings, or propellers.
The witness claimed that while the object itself remained stationary, the lights surrounding it were spinning rapidly. “A prominent circular light was located at or near the centre of the object,” the report read. “It rotated or pulsed continuously, changing colours from bright red to purple, blue, green, and white.”
‘The Craft Was Completely Silent’
One of the most striking details from the report is the claim that the UFO made no sound whatsoever. The resident noted that the windows of their truck were open, yet there was “no engine noise, no wind disturbance, or any other audible sound typically associated with an aircraft of that size.”
The silence, combined with the rapidly changing lights, created what the witness described as an “unreal and mesmerising effect.” The colourful illumination reportedly lit up the field below, casting bright hues across the quiet landscape.
Calm Weather, Clear Visibility
The encounter occurred on what the witness described as a “quiet fall night,” with calm conditions and no wind. Visibility was clear, allowing the resident to observe the craft’s features distinctly before it eventually disappeared.
Skaneateles, a small town in upstate New York known for its rural scenery and clear night skies, has been the location of several alleged UFO sightings over the years. This recent report adds to a growing list of strange aerial encounters documented across the northeastern United States in recent months.
As of now, there has been no official confirmation or explanation for the sighting. NUFORC has logged the incident as part of its ongoing investigation into unidentified aerial phenomena.
