US President Joe Biden on Sunday pulled out of the United States Presidential election and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris' name as his replacement. His decision came after Biden's reelection campaign ended on Sunday after other Democrats lost faith in his mental acuity and capacity to defeat Donald Trump, putting the presidential race in new ground.

Soon after Biden dropped out of the race, former US president and republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told CNN on Sunday that he thinks Vice President Kamala Harris will be easier to defeat in November's election than Democratic President Joe Biden who stepped aside as his party's candidate.

According to the Hill, Kamala Harris is the favorite contender as of now because she is the current vice president and Biden's chosen successor. Let's take a list of other probable running mates:

2. Roy Cooper – Governor of North Carolina

3. JB Pritzker – Governor of Illinois

4. Josh Shapiro – Governor of Pennsylvania

5. Gretchen Whitmer – Governor of Michigan

6. Mark Kelly – Arizona Senator

7. Pete Buttigieg – US Transportation Secretary

8. Wes Moore – Governor of Maryland

9. Gavin Newsom – Governor of California

Meanwhile, soon after Biden announced he won't be contesting the US election, US House Speaker Mike Johnson took to X announced that he would be dropping from the presidential election race, and said that if the latter is not fit to run for President, he is not fit to serve as President. He asked him to resign immediately.

"At this unprecedented juncture in American history, we must be clear about what just happened. The Democrat Party forced the Democrat nominee off the ballot, just over 100 days before the election. Having invalidated the votes of more than 14 million Americans who selected Joe Biden to be the Democrat nominee for president, the self-proclaimed ‘party of democracy’ has proven exactly the opposite," Speaker Johnson said.

"The party’s prospects are no better now with Vice President Kamala Harris, who co-owns the disastrous policy failures of the Biden Administration. As second in command and a completely inept border czar, Harris has been a gleeful accomplice — not only in the destruction of American sovereignty, security, and prosperity, but also in the largest political coverup in U.S. history. She has known for as long as anyone of his incapacity to serve," he added.
