Agra Metro: Agra's metro construction is moving swiftly, especially on the stretch between Khandari Chauraha and ISBT along National Highway-19. The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has completed the construction of 43 pillars along this one-kilometre stretch and 70 out of 82 girders have already been placed. According to officials, laying of metro tracks will begin next month and is expected to continue for three weeks. Alongside the tracks, electrical lines will also be installed.

The upcoming ISBT metro station is expected to be completed by September. The station will feature a foot overbridge, three lifts and two escalators to ease commuter movement.

The 14-kilometre-long Agra Metro corridor, stretching from TDI Mall on Fatehabad Road to Sikandra Tiraha, includes 7 km of underground and 4 km of elevated track already completed. Work is currently ongoing on the remaining 3 km elevated section from Khandari Chauraha to Sikandra. For this, four rig machines are being used to carry out excavation.

Joint General Manager (Public Relations), Panchanan Mishra, said that each pillar has a depth of 77 to 80 feet and a diameter of 3 to 4 metres, with a 28-metre gap between two pillars. The focus is currently on completing the ISBT station on priority.

Meanwhile, a new road cut in front of Guru Ka Tal on NH-19 has been prepared by UPMRC and will be operational by Friday. This new cut replaces the older one, which will be temporarily closed as metro construction work, including pillar excavation, begins at that location.

In a separate update, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is repairing an expansion joint on the Khandari flyover. One lane has been closed, and vehicle speed has been restricted to 30 kmph. The work is expected to take a week. Similar repair work may begin soon on the ISBT flyover, as the middle portion of the structure has reportedly sunk slightly. A survey is being conducted to assess the need for repairs.
