General Secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust Champat Rai announced on Monday that a 51-inch tall statue of Ramlala, the child form of Lord Ram, will be installed in the sanctum sanctorum of Ayodhya’s Ram Temple. He said that the idol will be installed in the form of a standing child on a lotus on a platform built in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple and will receive the first blessing of Lord Surya.
Rai stated that three statues of Ramlala are being made by artisans from Karnataka, Jammu and Jaipur using grey and white Makrana stone. The most beautiful and attractive one will be chosen for the consecration.
The temple will have idols of other Hindu deities such as Lord Surya, Lord Shankar, Maa Bhagwati and Ganapati at the four corners, as well as Hanuman and Maa Annapurna within the premises.
The date of Pran Pratishtha, the ceremony of consecrating the idol, will be between Makar Sankranti and January 26 after consulting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also said that Lord Ram was Suryavanshi, so the Prime Minister wished that the first ray of sunlight should fall on the forehead of the main idol in the temple. In view of this, the opinion of astronomers was taken in fixing the height and position of the idol of Ramlala, so that the first ray of the sun falls on his forehead.
The temple will be able to accommodate 25,000 devotees at a time and will have a pilgrim service centre. It will also have a hospital with facilities such as washrooms, drinking water, lockers and seating areas while no fee will be charged for Aarti and Darshan at the temple.
The chief secretary of the temple trust claimed that the temple was being built with natural materials and without using iron, steel or concrete. He said that the temple authorities have taken advice from experts from all the IITs of the country and several engineering experts for the security system of the temple and for flood and earthquake prevention.
