An UPPCL employee, responsible for the power supply at a substation in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district, reportedly disrupted the power supply of a village in an inebriated condition on Saturday night. The power outage that took place at Takarson power substation led to widespread outrage among villagers after it was revealed that a drunken Sub-Station Operator (SSO) caused the disruption.
The SSO, identified as Kaushal Singh, reportedly stopped the power supply and fell asleep on the ground while on duty. Villagers, frustrated by the prolonged blackout, rushed to the substation and found Singh in a heavily intoxicated state.
Villagers who attempted to wake him were met with verbal abuse and physical aggression. The entire incident was recorded by the villagers and a video of the altercation between the UPPCL employee and villagers went viral on social media.
