A beheaded body of a six-year-old girl was found near Pitambarpur Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly district on Tuesday. Police stated that the girl would have been struck by a train or attacked by a wild animal, suggesting that the latter scenario could explain the body being dragged, causing the head to separate from the body.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) South, Manush Pareekh, noted that the body appears to be seven to eight days old and has not yet been identified. ASP Manush Pareekh also suggested that the incident was not a murder case.
Meanwhile, he also added that the exact cause of death will be determined through a postmortem examination and they are probing the matter from all possible angles.
In another incident, a 16-year-old girl from Karnataka’s Kodagu was allegedly beheaded by her fiance. The incident, which occurred in May, sent shockwaves across the district. The minor girl, who had just cleared her SSLC examination, got engaged to a 33-year-old man on the same day, despite objections from the District Child Rights Protection Unit.
The engagement was later called off by officials of the Women and Child Development Department, who intervened after receiving a call from the Child Helpline.

Police said that the accused, identified as Prakash, enraged by the cancellation, barged into the girl's home, dragged her out and beheaded her. Prakash then fled with the girl's severed head, prompting an extensive manhunt by local police. Authorities managed to arrest Prakash within days after an intensive search operation and is currently under judicial custody.
