This Diwali, Uttar Pradesh will not only witness homes illuminated with lamps, but also the talent and self-reliance of people with disabilities (Divyangjan) taking centre stage. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the ‘Divya Deepawali Mela-2025’ will be organised across all divisions of the state on October 16-17, featuring grand exhibitions of products made by people with disabilities.
The initiative aims to promote ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, while providing a platform for the economic empowerment and social respect of people with disabilities. Products on display will include earthen lamps, artificial jewellery, handloom items, home decor, worship materials, pickles, preserves, spices, and other food items, created in collaboration with training centres, self-help groups, and NGOs.
