A drunk man in Uttar Pradesh found himself caught in a large metal cage meant for a leopard, leaving forest officials stunned. The incident occurred on Thursday night in Bahraich district, and a video of it quickly went viral on social media.
The trap had been set near the edge of a village adjacent to the Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary following the death of 55-year-old Shanti Devi, who was attacked by a leopard on Wednesday evening. A goat had been placed inside the cage to lure the predator.
The man was identified as Pradeep, a resident of the village. Reports suggest he was intoxicated when he decided to enter the trap meant for the leopard. As soon as he stepped inside, the automatic door mechanism triggered, shutting the cage and locking him inside.

Officials initially suspected that Pradeep might have been attempting to steal the goat placed as bait. However, Pradeep claimed he was merely "checking on the situation" when he suddenly felt dizzy and became trapped.
Once inside, he shouted for help and managed to call nearby villagers on his mobile phone. The village head was informed immediately, who then contacted the Forest Department and local police. A joint team of forest officials and officers arrived at the scene, and it took nearly two hours to safely free him from the metal cage.
In a separate incident, in a bizarre incident on Thursday, a man named Hanumaiah got trapped in a cage set up to capture a leopard in Padaguru, Karnataka.
