Eid-ul-Fitr 2025: Eid is being celebrated with enthusiasm across the country, as people gather to offer prayers, exchange greetings and embrace one another. Since early morning, mosques have been filled with worshippers marking the festival, which symbolises unity, peace and brotherhood.
The celebrations began on Sunday evening following the sighting of the Eid moon. With the confirmation of Eid, families and communities started preparations, sharing greetings and making arrangements for the special day. The Muslim community eagerly looks forward to this occasion each year, preparing traditional delicacies and engaging in charitable acts.
Security Measures Strengthened
In view of the large gatherings, authorities have implemented strict security arrangements in major cities. Senior police officials, along with paramilitary forces, are conducting flag marches to maintain law and order. Surveillance has been increased to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration.
The Islamic Center of India has advised worshippers to offer namaz inside designated Eidgahs and mosques rather than on public roads. This advisory aims to prevent congestion and maintain public order during the festival.
High Alert In Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal
Sambhal district in Uttar Pradesh has been placed under high alert for Eid. Security forces, including 1,300 CCTV cameras, seven Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) companies, and three Rapid Action Force (RAF) units, have been deployed to monitor the situation. Drone cameras are also being used for aerial surveillance in sensitive areas.
Authorities in Sambhal had to intervene in a dispute over who would lead the Eid prayers at the Eidgah. A disagreement arose between the Idgah Imam and a local Qari, leading to discussions at the Kotwali police station. Officials, including SDM Dr Vandana Mishra and CO Anuj Chaudhary, mediated the situation. After deliberations, it was decided that Mufti Azam Sambhal Qari Alauddin would lead the prayers, resolving the matter peacefully.
