The UP government has eased Aadhaar-related hurdles for children studying in Garhmukteshwar council schools, ensuring the timely disbursement of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) funds for uniforms, shoes, socks, bags, sweaters, and stationery. Under the new directive, DBT amounts will now be transferred to the guardian’s bank account even if the child does not have an Aadhaar card. The guardian’s Aadhaar will be used for verification instead of the student’s.
Block Education Officer Sarvesh Kumar said that around 10,000 students are enrolled, and every year, Rs 1,200 is transferred to guardians for purchasing uniforms and other essential items. The DBT amount includes Rs 600 for uniforms, Rs 175 for a school bag, Rs 125 for shoes and socks, Rs 200 for a sweater, and Rs 100 for stationery.

Earlier, many students were deprived of the benefit due to the non-issuance of their Aadhaar cards, as student Aadhaar verification was mandatory. With the rule now scrapped, only the guardian’s bank account details and Aadhaar verification are required.
Sarvesh Kumar informed that DBT has already been credited for nearly 10,000 students, while the details of the remaining students have been forwarded to the government. Aadhaar-bank verification of around 150 guardians is still pending.
He termed the decision a major relief for parents and children, especially as winter sets in, ensuring that no child is left without essential school items. Guardians have also welcomed the move, calling it a commendable initiative.
