The two-year weekend LLM course offered at Gautam Buddha University (GBU), Greater Noida, has been discontinued following an order from the Bar Council of India (BCI). For this session, 40 students had taken admission.
Following the BCI's order, the GBU administration has refunded the fees of all students. The aspirations of the students who had taken admission to obtain an LLM degree have suffered a setback. The BCI has discontinued the weekend course, describing it as impractical.

For now, students who took admission in the previous session will be allowed to complete their course. Dr KK Dwivedi, Dean of the GBU's School of Law, stated that the BCI had issued a letter on May 25 directing the discontinuation of the course.
Consequently, the GBU administration held a meeting and decided to refund the fees of all students who had enrolled this year. In its letter, the BCI has clarified that the reason for discontinuing the course is to provide students with quality legal education, ensure integrity, and maintain the credibility of the legal profession.
GBU had started the two-year LLM course last session with 30 seats. This year, the number of seats was increased by 10 to 40.
