The Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation has begun the work to build electric vehicle charging stations in the city. Among the 20 stations planned, work has begun on 13 stations to be build aross five zones of the Municipal Corporation. Sites for the remaining stations are being identified.
The 13 charging stations are being built in locations including Govindpuram, Swarna Jayantipuram Road, under the Diamond Railway Flyover Bridge, and under the Vivekananda Nagar Railway Over Bridge in the Kavi Nagar Zone. In the City Zone, sites include Ret Mandi Nandgram Road, Raj Nagar Extension Main Road, Hindon Vihar Shamshan (cremation ground) Parking Sai Upvan, Patel Marg GT Road, and near the multi-level parking at the New Bus Adda.
Locations in the Vijay Nagar Zone are near Vijay Nagar Ghode Wale Mandir (temple), near the Taj Highway Patwari Bhawan (building), near Crossing Republik Hospital, and behind the Akbarpur Bahrampur Transfer Station.
The process of identifying sites for stations in the Mohan Nagar and Vasundhara zones is underway. Additional Municipal Commissioner Jang Bahadur Yadav stated that the electric vehicle charging stations will be inaugurated in the last week of February. Consumers will be able to charge their vehicles by paying Rs 8.86 per unit.

Municipal Commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik stated that the Municipal Corporation is promoting e-vehicles as a step towards improving air quality. A total of 100 charging points will be established across the 20 stations.
