Blood test reports from all health facilities in Ghaziabad, including the District Hospital, Community Health Centres (CHCs), and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, will now be sent to patients online, following a directive from the administration.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Akhilesh Mohan has instructed hospital Chief Medical Superintendents (CMSs), CHC in-charges, Community Health Officers (CHOs), and doctors to ensure integration of the Health Management Information System (HMIS) with the Lab Management Information System (LMIS). A special training session for lab technicians was held at the CMO’s office on September 16 to facilitate this process.
As per the directive, lab reports of patients registered in the Outpatient Department (OPD) will be digitally linked to their Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA). Currently, more than 500 patients undergo over 3,000 blood tests daily at District MMG Hospital, while the Combined Hospital and District Women’s Hospital see around 200 and 300 patients, respectively. CHCs and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs collectively test over 100 patients a day.
Despite state-of-the-art equipment and a system to deliver reports via SMS introduced five years ago, reports are still largely collected in person, sometimes after two to three days. The facility operates irregularly, even at MMG Hospital, causing inconvenience to patients, particularly pregnant women, who must collect reports manually.
The CMO’s order aims to streamline the process, though its effective implementation remains to be seen.
