Ghaziabad Mayor Clears Rs 100 Cr Municipal Land In Mirzapur, Seizes 16 Trucks Of Fodder

Municipal Corporation land worth around Rs 100 crore in Mirzapur was cleared of encroachment on Saturday following action led by Ghaziabad Mayor Sunita Dayal. The land had been illegally occupied by a person identified as Bilal Ahmed, who was running a fodder business from the site.

According to officials, 16 truckloads of fodder stored on the encroached land were seized by the Municipal Corporation team and sent to a cow shelter (gaushala), where it will be used to feed cattle.

Mayor Sunita Dayal said she noticed fodder being sold on the land near NH-9 in Mirzapur about 15 days ago while returning from a foundation stone laying ceremony near the Tigri roundabout. An inquiry with the property department confirmed that the land belonged to the Municipal Corporation and was valued at approximately Rs 100 crore. She said Bilal Ahmed had been earning a substantial daily income by selling fodder to dairy owners.

The Mayor had issued a 15-day notice to vacate the land, but the encroachment was not removed within the stipulated time. Subsequently, on Saturday, the Mayor, along with a Municipal Corporation team, carried out the eviction drive and cleared the land.

Municipal Corporation officials warned that strict legal action would be taken if any attempt were made to re-encroach on the land. The Mayor also directed officials to remain vigilant and regularly monitor Municipal Corporation properties to prevent illegal occupation.
