An MBA student tragically fell from the balcony of the ninth floor of the Angel Jupiter Society in the Indirapuram Kotwali area on Tuesday. His family rushed him to a private hospital in Noida, where he was later pronounced dead by doctors.
The deceased has been identified as Harshit Tyagi, who had been visiting his aunt’s house at the time. Reports suggest that he had a history of drug addiction, and the police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In another incident, first-year BTech student Madala Rahul Chaitanya took his own life by jumping from the fifth floor of his hostel at the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Allahabad. The 20-year-old student, who had a hearing impairment, died late on Saturday night, just a day before his 21st birthday.
According to police, Chaitanya jumped from the hostel at approximately 11:55 PM. He was quickly rushed to SRN Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ajendra Yadav stated that no suicide note was found at the scene. However, initial investigations suggested that Chaitanya was distressed after failing an examination.
Chaitanya, originally from Nizamabad district in Telangana, had been enrolled in the deaf-and-mute category at the institute. Pankaj Mishra, the public relations officer for IIIT, noted that Chaitanya had not attended classes for the last three months and had been feeling overwhelmed by academic pressure. He had recently communicated his struggles to his mother.
Rahul’s mother, Swarnalatha, shared her last conversation with her son before his death. She recalled receiving a message from him late on Saturday, asking her to take care of his younger brother and father. Alarmed by the message, she attempted to call him but found his phone switched off. After contacting a friend to check on him, she learned that her son was being taken to the hospital. She arrived on campus on Sunday afternoon only to discover the tragic news.
