Following the implementation of the vertical system by the Electricity Corporation, consumers' problems are on the rise in Ghaziabad. In particular, continuous complaints regarding electricity bills are emerging.
Consumers from various areas of the city are facing problems such as receiving excessive bills, bills not being generated on time, and delays in the resolution of complaints. Pramod Sharma, a resident of Mahindra Enclave, stated that while his electricity bill averaged up to Rs 1,000 before the implementation of the vertical system, a bill of Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 is now suddenly being sent. Consumers are shocked by the inflated bills and are being forced to visit the Electricity Corporation's offices.
The biggest problem is that following the implementation of the vertical system, consumers from different areas now have to go to the new office at the Skoda Centre in Kavi Nagar to resolve bill-related complaints. Consumers allege that problems were previously resolved at the local level, but the system has become more complicated since the introduction of the vertical system.
Meanwhile, Sarvesh Kumar, a resident of Panchvati Colony, said that a smart meter was installed at his home two months ago. Two months on, the electricity bill has still not arrived.
Despite repeated visits to the offices, the problem is not being resolved. Meanwhile, officials from the Electricity Corporation state that there are technical difficulties in the initial phase, which will be rectified soon.
