In a significant step toward improving sanitation in the city, Jal Nigam (Urban) will soon lay a sewer line from Humayunpur Tiraha to Gorakhnath Police Station via Jageshwar Pasi Chauraha using the trenchless method. Ahead of the project, traffic diversions will be enforced on eight major routes in the Gorakhnath area.
To ensure smooth movement on these alternative routes, Jal Nigam has started upgrading the identified roads. From Thursday, work began on strengthening the stretch from DP Jewellers to Digvijaynagar Janpriya Vihar Main Road, as well as the route from the SBI Customer Service Centre to Mandir Gate No. 2 via Digvijaynagar Road, Jamunia Bagh, and Zahidabad Road. Area councillor Rishi Mohan Verma was present during the inspection.
Officials said all eight diversion routes will be repaired and prepared for traffic. Potholes will be filled with GSB, road surfaces will be compacted with rollers, and encroachments will be removed.
Executive Engineer Pankaj Kumar said the routes being upgraded include:
-Bank of Baroda Customer Service Centre to Gorakhnath Road via Sindhi Colony Road
-Amar Handloom Centre and the road behind Gorakhnath Police Station to Gorakhnath Temple Gate No. 2 via Zahidabad Road
-Union Bank ATM to Zahidabad Road via Janpriya Vihar Colony, Shiv Mandir, and Jamunia Bagh
-Jageshwar Pasi Chauraha to Khare Chowk via Gorakhnath Overbridge
-Yadav Tola to Gorakhnath Road via Haji Farm House and Sindhi Colony Road
Kumar added that strengthening these routes will ensure motorists face minimal inconvenience once diversion plans come into effect.
