In response to security measures and a rise in road accidents, the district's SSP (Senior Superintendent of Police) has identified the jurisdictions of 14 police stations as accident-prone.

SSP Rajkaran Nayyar has prepared a road safety roadmap to curb accidents in the long term, noting that, according to road accident reports, the highest number of incidents occur in November, December, and January.

Special Investigation Team

The 14 identified police stations are all either located alongside a four-lane highway or have a four-lane highway passing through their jurisdiction. Accidents are common in these areas as high-speed vehicles collide, often due to villages located on the periphery and the absence of speed breakers on link roads.

To address this, the SSP has formed a special team consisting of one sub-inspector (Daroga) and two constables. This team's duties are:

- To identify the specific accident sites.

- To investigate the actual causes of accidents (such as fog, road design, lack of signage, or darkness).

- To prepare a detailed report on their findings.

Following this report, a meeting will be held with the concerned department to get the identified issues resolved.

New Safety And Traffic Measures

Several preventive actions are being taken to improve safety:

Fog and Visibility: To prevent accidents in foggy conditions, reflectors and indicators will be installed on lanes, in neighbourhoods (mohallas), at intersections connected to main roads, and at cuts on the four-lane highway. This will help drivers be more alert at night or in fog.

Increased Personnel: Considering the increasing traffic pressure in the city, 88 additional police personnel have been provided to the traffic department. In addition to the already deployed traffic personnel, they will be stationed at major intersections, markets, and accident-prone locations.
