The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) is inspecting two new railway lines in Gorakhpur today, causing a 12-hour suspension of train services. Normal operations are expected to resume on Saturday.

Today, Friday, September 26, the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) is conducting a final inspection of the newly completed Gorakhpur-Domingarh third line and the Gorakhpur-Nakaha Jungle double line. The inspection team will first travel the new lines by trolley with railway officials and engineers, followed by a high-speed train trial to test the track's fitness.

To ensure safety during this process, a 12-hour train block is in effect. Once the CRS gives the green light, regular train services will begin on these new lines, and the overall train schedule is expected to return to normal starting Saturday.

This inspection is the final step in a major upgrade project for the Gorakhpur Junction. According to Chief Public Relations Officer Pankaj Kumar Singh, a train block for non-interlocking work has been in place from September 22 to 26, affecting several train schedules.

As part of the upgrade, a dilapidated foot-overbridge (FOB) is also being completely dismantled to make way for a new one. The section from platforms three to nine was demolished on Thursday, and the remaining section from platforms one to three will be taken down today.
