Following an increase in the number of passenger aircraft operating from Hindon Airport, a proposal for its expansion has been prepared after a series of meetings. The authority is preparing to expand the airport at an approximate cost of Rs 8.50 crore.
With the expansion plan now drafted, the tender process is expected to begin this month. The target is to complete the work within eight months of the tender being finalized.
Details Of The Expansion Plan
The proposal includes several key works:
Parking: The airport's parking area will be increased.
Main Road: A new 120-metre-long main airport road will be constructed. This road will be four lanes wide (14.5 metres) and will include a 1.5-metre-wide footpath.
Curb Area: A new curb area will also be created.
Area Increase: The airport, currently built on 22,050 square metres, will be expanded by nine metres on the city side. This will increase its total area by approximately 800 square metres.

Phased Development And Land
This project constitutes the first phase of the expansion. The additional land for this nine-metre extension has been provided by the Housing and Development Council (Awas Evam Vikas Parishad) and the District Administration.
A second phase of expansion is also planned, which will take place on 6.8 acres of land.
The Director of Hindon Airport, Dr ChillaMaheshan, confirmed that the airport will be extended by nine metres towards the city, adding that "Every consideration will be given to passenger convenience."
