The Allahabad High Court Bar Association (AHCBA) on Thursday announced that their strike against the transfer of Delhi High Court judge Justice Yashwant Verma would continue on March 28. The lawyers at the Allahabad High Court are on strike, protesting the transfer, which has brought judicial proceedings to a standstill.
Justice Verma's transfer has become contentious following the discovery of large sums of cash at his official Delhi residence after a fire incident. The AHCBA has strongly opposed the move, announcing that the strike will continue till Friday. During an executive meeting held on Thursday afternoon, AHCBA suggested that representatives from all bar associations be invited to join the protest.
AHCBA secretary Vikrant Pandey stated, “We are determined to continue our strike until the Supreme Court collegium takes a firm decision and halts the transfer of Justice Yashwant Verma.” He also mentioned that the government had assured the association that no immediate decision would be made regarding the collegium’s recommendation.

Advocates' association general secretary Ishan Dev Giri called for maintaining the status quo on the transfer until the investigation into Justice Verma is concluded.
Additionally, leaders of six high court bar associations, including Tiwari, met the Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, requesting the withdrawal of the transfer recommendation. While the CJI assured them of considering their demands, sources indicated that no concrete promise was made.
