Kanpur News: The Uttar Pradesh Police arrested six persons on Tuesday after busting a 'sextortion' racket that was being operated through a gay dating app in Kanpur, claimed officials.

Lakhan Singh Yadav, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) said that the accused created fake profiles on the dating app called 'Blued'.

According to the official, they engaged the victims in polite conversations before taking them out on a date. Later, they would get involved in sexual activity and film naked videos of them.

Then, under threat of posting the footage online, they would rob them of their possessions and use their phones to transfer money from their bank accounts to their own, according to the officer.
