The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) on Tuesday launched an anti-encroachment drive in the Butlerganj locality near Balu Adda, freeing nearly 1,59,000 square feet of Nazul land from illegal occupation.

According to LDA Secretary Vivek Srivastava, Nazul plot numbers 38, 39, and 40 in Butlerganj were allotted on lease to Noor Sahakari Samiti in 1987. However, the cooperative society neither undertook construction nor carried out any development work.

The plots were subsequently encroached upon, and after the lease expired, the allotment was cancelled. A joint team from the Nazul and Enforcement sections, led by Nazul Officer Prabhakar Singh with police support, cleared the encroachments.

Tehsildar Hemchandra Tiwari confirmed that around 80 huts and temporary tin sheds were removed during the drive. Meanwhile, the LDA’s Enforcement Zone-5 team demolished four illegal plotting schemes in Gudamba.

Zonal Officer Virag Karwaria said that in Bhakhamau village, individuals, including Akshay Mishra, Imran and Hukmuddin, were carrying out unauthorised colony development over 18,000 square metres at four sites. The plotting, done without LDA approval, was razed by the enforcement team.
