Given the Rakshabandhan festival on Saturday, the Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation and City Transport will begin special bus operations starting 6:00 AM on Friday to ensure smooth travel for passengers, especially women. All preparations for the festive rush have been completed.
According to Regional Manager RK Tripathi, 986 buses will operate across the Lucknow region, with depots already assigned. Help desks have been set up at every bus station, and a public announcement system will broadcast bus-related information continuously.
To handle the expected crowd, especially of women passengers travelling to their brothers’ homes, 50 reserve buses have been arranged and will be deployed on high-demand routes. The leaves of all officers and staff have been cancelled to ensure full workforce availability during this period.
For passenger convenience, the control room number — 8726005808 — has been activated at the regional office. Additionally, all bus stations will have staff on shift duty, including assistant regional managers, centre in-charges, and duty room officials, to manage operations efficiently.
Special focus has been laid on cleanliness:
-Toilets and waiting areas will be maintained as per 13-point cleanliness guidelines.
-Buses arriving from distances of over 200 km will undergo minor cleaning at designated stations.
To ensure safety and traffic regulation, two enforcement vehicles will patrol busy routes such as Raebareli, Kanpur, and Ayodhya (Kamta bus station).

For the convenience of women passengers, boarding points have been set up at eight locations, including Madiyanv, Ahimamau, Telibagh, Awadh Hospital, and Dubagga. Transport Corporation staff will be deployed at these sites to assist passengers.
All bus drivers and conductors have been instructed to extend courteous behaviour, especially towards elderly passengers and women travellers.
The initiative aims to ensure that women can comfortably reach their destinations a day before Rakshabandhan and return safely after celebrating the festival.
